SUNMAP CAREER OPPORTINITIES

A DFID funded five year programme to support the National Malaria Control Programme. It currently operates in 6 states: anambra, Kano, Lagos, Niger, Katsina and Ogun with Headquaters in Abuja

Due to expansion of operations to four more states: Enugu, Yobe, Jigawa and Kaduna, we require the servies of the following

1. NORTHERN REGION PROGRAMME MANAGER: KANO RESPONSIBILITIES: – assist the programme director in the management of SUNMAP activities in 6 Northern states, management of state level teams and maintaining effective relationships with programme partners including other DFID health programmes, state ministries, state malaria control programme, key individuals in the Government, other aid agencies, private sectors, civil society groups and other parastatals within the Northern States – ensure all programme offices in the North run their business smoothly and their financial transactions are sound and ensure that local procurement and management arrangemente meet the accounting requirements of the Government of Nigeria and that of DFID – assist in timely submission of quarterly programme progress reports to Northern states as specified by the Government of Nigeria and DFID

REQUIREMENTS – Degree in international or public health with experience in health professional and at least 10 years working experience in Malaria control programmes in a developing country – proven technical knowlede and skill in health service delivery and primary health care in a developing ountry – past experience in public health, policy development and health system reforms is essential – good communication and coordination skills are required

2. MALARIA SPECIALIST: ABUJA RESPONSIBILITIES: – planning ad implementation of the outputs of the programme relating to malaria case management and prevention and liaise with other technical and state managers to ensure effective implementation of the programme strategies relating to malaria prevention and treatment – support the programme directors in the identification of potential modification to programme strategies for continous improvement – involve in providing technical assistance to programme activities related to malaria case management and prevention and also support the identification and resolution of bottlenecks during implementation

REQUIREMENTS – Degree in international or public health with experience in health professional and at least 8 years working experience – strong knowledge of malaria and of the health system structures in Nigeria – strong planning, budgeting, coordinating nad communication skills – past experience in a coordinating role and within a donor funding environment will be an added advantage

3. OPERATIONAL RESEARCH AND KNOWLEDGE SPECIALIST: ABUJA

RESPONSIBILITIES: – planning and implementation of the outputs of the programme relating to operational research and facilitation of programme management and documentation activities – collaboration with the programme technical director and support the development of the NMCP operational research platform and coordinate activities related to programme operational research – provie capacity builing to NMCP and SMCP and SUNMAP technical staff and liaise with research groups involved instudis to ensure effective tracking of implementation in line with approved protocols

REQUIREMENTS – A post graduate qualification in public health or related fields with at least 8 years experience in operational research – conversant with health communication approaches an techniques and strong knowledge of onepts and approaches – past experience in website and knowlede management in a similar working environment will be a plus

4. CAPACITY BUILDING MANAGER: ABUJA

RESPONSIBILITIES: – coordinate all capacity building efforts across the entire programme and work closely with the programme technical director will support the NMCP in the review of National apacity building strategies for the management of malaria control – liaise with other technical and state manaers to ensure effective implementation of programm strategies relating to NMCP and programme capacity building packages

REQUIREMENTS: – A post graduate qualification in public health or related fields with at least 8 years experience and excellent knowledge of health system strengthing concepts and context – experience in adult education, teaching ad curriculum development and demostrate proficiency in relevant computer packages – past experience in a coordinating role and within a donor funding environment will be an added advantage

5. OPERATIONS MANAGER: ABUJA RESPONSIBILITIES: – suppot the programme management and technical terms in planning, budgeting, scheduling and tracking of all programmes technical activities and liaise with staff in operations at both National and state levels to ensure resources required for scheduled activities are available on time and at the required standard – monitor and report on programme activity procee indicators on accelerated routine commodity, training, HMIS and NMCP malaria data

REQUIREMENTS: – Post graduate in one of public health, health logistics, health management or supply chain management is required with at least 5 years experience in coordinating – strong understanding of the health system structure in Nigeria context and demostrate proficiency in the use of computer

6. ACCOUNT OFFICER; ABUJA

RESPONSIBILITIES: – check the accuracy of all financial transactions posted to the leders on the finance system of the programme and check advance requests and ensure they are being processed in adherence to approved financial regulations – support the financial and management accountant on all finacial related issues

REQUIREMENTS – degree in any discipline with at least 5 years experience with pratical experience in the use of accounting and computer packaes is essential – strong planning, inter personnal and communication skills are required

7. DRIVER X3: ANAMBRA, LAGOS AND KANO RESPONSIBILITIES: – operating the programme vehicle and ensuring the eneral safety of the vehicle at all times and responsible for pick ups an other programme appointments

REQUIREMENTS: – at least 5 years driving experience and minimum of SSCE is required – ability to speak, write and rea english language is necessary an past experience in a similar role will be a plus
